Why is food hygiene important ?
Good food hygiene practises help to prevent cross contamination. SilverGuard improves hygiene levels by greatly reducing levels of bacteria on uniforms and textiles in the work environment.
Cross contamination can cause illness, food poisoning and worse for your customers. For the owner or manager it can lead to loss of reputation, earnings and possibly closure. Much has been done within the food manufacturing industry to reduce these risks such as the issue of multiple daily change uniforms and protective clothing, but much has still to be done in the commercial kitchen to prevent the spread of bacteria such as E-coli, Salmonella, MRSA and Listeria.
SilverGuard antimicrobial wash additives provide constant protection for your chef and kitchen staff clothing by inhibiting the growth of bacteria such as E-coli, Listeria, MRSA and Salmonella (for a full list of all bacteria tested against please visit the fact file).
- The continual inhibition of bacterial growth (test results show a 99.9% reduction) not only reduces the risk of cross contamination but also inhibits the creation of body odours such as sweat and perspiration.
- Some uniform suppliers already offer "antibacterial" garments which are usually much more expensive and limited in choice. Whilst they are generally of good quality when they are new, there is no way of knowing whether the antibacterial treatment is still effective after numerous "hot washes".
- It is a fact that most textile surface treatments and coatings deteriorate over time, use and laundering. The vast majority of garments sold as "antibacterial" or "antimicrobial" have been treated with organic compounds which will leach out and rapidly become ineffective. In some cases they will even contribute to the creation of more resistant strains of bacteria such as MRSA.
- SilverGuard is produced from inorganic materials, which do not leach out, do not provide a risk to the environment and have no evidence or even suspicion of causing resistent bacterial strains .
- SilverGuard protection is safe, skin friendly, economical and easy to use.
SilverGuard wash additives can be used with all manner of kitchen, restaurant and food servery textiles such as kitchen uniforms and chefswear, waitress and waiters uniforms, tea towels, oven cloths, glass cloths, floor cloths, table cloths and runners, hand towels, scarves, headwear, oven gloves and napkins.
Home Laundry
SilverGuard is available in convenient 500 ml "Home Use" bottles with child resistant caps. One 500 ml bottle is sufficient for between 8 to 10 domestic wash loads (based on a 6kg maximum load). Typically the cost per garment, to provide odour free and antimicrobial protection for all of your clothing is no more than 10p !
On site Laundry
SilverGuard is available in easy to handle and cost effective 5 litre packages for on site laundry use. Larger containers are not recommended due to
manual handling regulations and the fact that SilverGuard requires shaking well before use. Simply added to the rinse cycle of your machine via the fabric conditioner compartment or rinse additive compartment, SilverGuard will start acting immediately upon all bacteria and will reduce levels by 99.9% on all textiles until the next wash.
SilverGuard will also reduce the risk of cross contamination between washes in your washing machine.
Commercial Laundry
You may have signed a contract with an industrial laundry company who either rent garments to you or simply launder your clothing and textiles. Whilst most if not all of these commercial laundries are very good at what they do and ensure that your clothing and textiles have been washed at high temperatures that will thermally disinfect and remove as much of the dirt and staining as possible. In the case of white coloured textiles bleach may also be added which is of obvious benefit when the reduction of bacteria is important to you.
If your clothing and textiles have been delivered to you like this then you do not know what may have contaminated them on there journey to you.

If your clothing and textiles have been delivered to you like this then you will be a lot more confident that your laundry has not been contaminated. it may, however, still be a little damp !

Either way you should ask your laundry to consider asking SilverGuard to give that added level of protection that will continually inhibit the growth of bacteria, mold and fungus thus removing the cause of infection and odours. Supplied in commercial 20 litre drums, SilverGuard is available to all of the leading laundry companies in the U.K.
